Rough Guide readers vote Scotland the world’s most beautiful country

Ruins of Kilchurn Castle on the northerly shoreline of Loch Awe, Argyll, Scotland

A poll of Rough Guide readers in August 2017 saw Scotland voted the world’s most beautiful country.

Here’s what they said; …“Who can deny that these wild beaches, deep lochs and craggy castles are some of the most wonderful and beautiful sights in the world”.

And who are we to argue! Just look at the stunning photo montage above of Kilchurn Castle at the head of Loch Awe, just 10 minutes up the East side of the loch from the Blue Cottage, alongside a circle of ancient Neolithic standing stones in Kilmartin Glen, a 30 minute drive down Loch Awe from the cottage.

You can read about Rough Guide’s top-20 most beautiful countries at this link and see Scotland top the charts. And, if you fancy a break amidst Scotland’s beautiful landscapes, the Blue Cottage is now taking bookings for 2018. Check out our 2018 availability and rates.
